Enseignement technique du métier de peintre en décors! / Decorative Painter's Foundation Course!

Le 26 septembre nous avons démarré notre formation de 3 mois - l'Enseignement technique du métier de peintre en décors.  Composé de 3 modules, cette formation peut être prise en entier ou par module.  Voici quelques clichés du Module I - Imitations des Bois et des Marbres!

On September 26th began our signature course - our 3 months Decorative Painter's Foundation Course.  This curriculum is composed of three modules that can be taken as a complete package course or by individual modules.  Here are some photos from Module I - Graining and Marbling course.

L'Art Pictural Japonais / Japanese Pictorial Art

Un paravent est un meuble composé de panneaux en bois plein ou panneau de tissu tendu encadrés d'un châssis de bois et réunis par des charnières.  Ces panneaux sont pliables et sont appelés feuilles.  Les paravent servait à se protéger des courants d'air, à isoler un espace pour l'intimité ou des entretiens privés.

C'est au XVI siècle en France que les paravents apparaissent, ils atteignent leurs apogées au XVIII siècle où des peintres comme Antoine Watteau et François Boucher les décorent avec des scènes de genre richement colorées.  

Il existe de nombreux styles de paravent, la culture japonaise en a fait des cloisons mobiles substituant au bois et au tissu tendu, des feuilles de papier ou de soie et aux charnières, des lanières de cuir ou des cordons de soie. 

Atelier Nadaï a le plaisir de recevoir Yaeko Kurimata, artiste peintre en décors de renommée internationale, pour un Master Class sur la réalisation d'un panneau décoratif qui reprend l'imagerie et les techniques picturales japonaises sur le principe des feuilles de paravent.

A folding screen is a type of free-standing furniture composed of several frames or panels, often connected by hinges.  These panels are foldable and have been used for both practical and decorative purposes.

Folding screens were introduced to France in the 16th century, and they reached their apogee in the 18th century during which famous painters like Antoine Watteau and François Boucher decorated them with richly colored scenes.

There are many styles of folding screens, in Japan they evolved in structure and design, along with the techniques and materials used. During the Nara Period the folding screens were covered in silk and connected with leather or silk cords.  Today, a hand-crafted folding screen is made from several joined panels, bearing decorative painting and calligraphy.

Atelier Nadaï is pleased to receive Yaeko Kurimata, a Japanese decorative painting artist for a 5-day Master Class on painting a decorative panel depicting Japanese Pictorial Art.  Yaeko is an accomplished, internationally renowned artist and is owner of Faux Arts Design in Tokyo, Japan.

Peinture au lait! / Milk paint!

Un weekend plein de couleurs avec notre stage sur la peinture au lait. La peinture au lait est une peinture ancienne, naturelle et sain pour l'environnement. Elle convient particulièrement aux surfaces en bois, pour repeindre et donner une nouvelle vie à vos anciens meubles...

A l'Atelier Nadaï nous avons sélectionné la marque de peinture au lait Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint pour ses couleurs dynamiques et la qualité du produit. 

A weekend full of colors as we organized our very first Milk Paint workshop.  Milk Paint has been used since antiquity. It's a natural paint, non-toxic and safe for the environment.  Milk Paint is a great product to use to beautify your old furniture. This workshop was held at our friend Claudia's gite near Lupiac (D'Artagnan's birth place!). We spent two fun afternoons painting and giving new life to her grandparents' old chairs, and painting wood boards as well.

Salon Comparaisons Grand Palais

Exposition au Grand Palais:  Michel expose une de ses toiles lors du Salon Comparaisons 2014 - Art en Capital.

Exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, from November 25th to November 30th.  For the first time Michel exhibits one of his paintings duing the Salon Comparaisons 2014.

Located in the heart of Paris on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the Grand Palais is an iconic monument built for the Universal Exhibition in 1900 and dedicated “by the French Republic to the glory of French art”, it was designated as a historic monument in 2000.  

Salon des Antiquaires de Samatan / Antique Fair at Samatan

Le 36ème salon des Antiquaires de Samatan, parrainé par Pierre Arditi, c'est déroulé du 23 au 25 août à la Halle au Gras.  La culture, les belles choses du passé et la gastronomie étaient à l'honneur pendant ces 3 jours, dans une ambiance conviviale et chaleureuse.

The 36th Antique Fair at Samatan, sponsored by Pierre Arditi, was held from August 23rd to August 25th at the Halle au Gras.  

Culture, beautiful antiques and local gastronomy took center stage during those three days in the picturesque small town of Samatan, Gers.  A very typically Gascon experience for us, and a lovely way to end the summer season in the Gers!
